Smart robots can replace dumb teachers-study
The world is digitalized currently every aspect of human
life is somehow impacted by the internet. subsequently covid-19, the education
sector became more or less conditional on the digital world. Watching educational
videos, taking online classes, and making online notes. Now we are moving to
robot teachers. A recent study indicated that younger children are more
inclined towards tech-based knowledge and the ability to comprehend more from a
robot than a human teacher who has limited knowledge.
the analysis was part of the Journal of Cognition and
Development specialists from Concordia University who were conducting research.
The research establishes the fact that younger students who are in kindergarten
are more likely to prefer teachers who are not human but rather mechanical
robots, humanoid means have features human-like, faces, eyes, hands, etc. The
research was able to find out that human teachers can be replaceable by
humanoids (human-looking robots ) although this research was executed on
younger students only. We do not know yet how older students will react or
prefer their teachers to be. The search includes only 3 years old and 5 years
old students to find out more about the claim we have to conduct the same
research on different age groups.

The participants of the research are students one group
consists of 3 years old students, other groups consist of five years old
students.
The research was virtual as it was conducted on zoom (an
online meeting-based app).A
the video was shown to all children in the video there are
two participants one female, and another humanoid neo(robot),
two experiments need to be executed by neo and one by both
female teachers.
The first assignment was to identify some products that have
wrong tags ( For example car tag as a book) neo recognized everything
correctly. Another task was to identify quite uncommon products such as(
silicon material boxes) which female and neo both were unaware of that's why
they said made-up names of products, toma, DAX, etc
Although we get quite interesting insight from the study
regardless it was fictitious words that do not mean anything still kids were
able to remember every made-up word that neo used in the task.
we can establish the fact from here, that students can grasp
things more aptly from robots they enjoyed learning from robots compared to the
teacher.
the age group of five years was more interested in robots
nonetheless 3 years age group did not show any preference.
This was a great experiment to understand children's
psychology toward the robot or machine and their pattern of understanding and
comprehension. It also paves the path to incorporating Artificial Intelligence,
robots, and other such powerful technology in the field of education.
