CLIMATE CHANGE Education in High schools
We observed that our atmosphere is altering and the temperature of the world has increased which can drive to drastic transformations in our life and other living beings' lives. Climate change takes place because of human actions like burning oils, petrol, and gas and producing such gases which are harmful to the planet's ecosystem. It may sound that a few degrees of temperature will not influence the earth although, it started to have a great consequence on marine beings as well a few islands are verged to submerge into the water due to glaciers melting and it's due to global warming.

When we burn fossil fuels such as coal, fuels, other types
of energies, which are not natural gases to produce energy that lead to high
production of greenhouse gases that are reliable for entangling the sun's heat
on earth which is the cause of global warming and climate change.
THE
approach to change old system to new
A prominent teacher of maths undertook an eye-opening scheme
for improving the quality of education in high schools regarding climate
change. He recalled that while he was a teacher in a high school got material (course
booklet) on climate change and it was not appealing or having valid information
although it was sent to every school and utilized as a base to teach children
about climate change. It made him work hard to embark on an agenda to enhance
the teaching of climate change papers in high schools, as it is a subject which
should have an interdisciplinary approach and it should be concentrated on both
the educator and students to minimize myth regarding environment and creating
more environment friendly generation of adolescence.
New course
to enhance understanding of global threat of climate change
The instructor Christopher Knittel elicited a Climate
Action through Education (CATE) lessons. The course has all the elements
regarding climate change, it was initially introduced in some of the schools in
Massachusetts and soon every school of the United States of America was part of
the agenda.
The climate change curriculum was not blindly designed and
did not follow the macro approach or Up to bottom approach rather, it was
area-specific, the micro approach was key to teaching, it allowed students to
understand the climatic threat in their own area and find solutions for the
same and be more responsible citizens of the globe.
THE CATE combined both teachers and learners in the plan.
They empowered humanities, maths, and non-science background educators with sufficient
comprehension to build confidence enough to teach students, they involved
educators from various fields because climate change is a discipline
overlapping with other subjects.
They took assistance from teachers while developing the
course to be more apt for the needs of educators as well as learners. Teachers
wanted to integrate climate change into their classes but were not sure what
and how they teach and how would assignments and tests to conduct.
The scheme CATE is a revolutionary approach to teaching climate
change in high schools.
